Cancellation Notes, Event Editing and New Options

Cancellation Notes, Event Editing and New Options

This morning we successfully rolled out our weekly update to  My Music Staff. Here’s a summary of the changes:

Family Filter

Last week we added the ability to filter the calendar by Student and Event Category. Based on your feedback, we’ve improved the student filtering by adding “Family” entries for families with multiple students. If you teach families with multiple students you will see extra items in the Student filter drop down list that allows you to display all the scheduled events for anyone in the family.

Lesson Cancellation Notes

Students (or parents) can now include a note when they cancel a scheduled lesson from the student portal. The student’s note is automatically included on the email notification that My Music Staff sends you (and, if applicable, added to the attendance as a Private Note).

Improved Event Editing

Now when you finish editing an event, the calendar will automatically go to the month of that event (rather than the current month). This allows you to see your event right away and makes it easier to edit multiple events in a future month.

New Event Category Option

MMS-EventCategory-FixedMonthlyCharge

We’ve added a new option called “Charge Monthly Students” to the Event Categories. This setting only affects teachers who charge students the same amount each month, regardless of the number of lessons (if you charge by the lesson, this change does not affect you). This allows you to specify which event types will trigger My Music Staff to create a monthly charge for the student.

Previously My Music Staff would only generate a monthly charge if one of more “Lesson” events were scheduled. Now you can tell My Music Staff to generate this charge if other events are scheduled too. This is useful if you’ve added your own event types to My Music Staff.

Performance Improvements

We’ve made a number of internal tweaks to improve the page-load time in some areas of My Music Staff. Specifically the calendar pages and the website editor should now load a bit faster. We’ve also fixed a variety of other minor issues throughout the site.
