We&#8217;ve rolled out some great new features that your not only going to love, they&#8217;re going to save you time! Here&#8217;s what&#8217;s new this week:<\/p>\n<h2>Locations<\/h2>\n<p>Probably one of the most exciting new features of this weeks\u00a0update is the ability to now add a location for a lesson or event. This is a great new feature for teachers working in a studio that has multiple classrooms or teaching at a location outside of the studio, you can even choose &#8220;<strong>Use\u00a0Student Home Address<\/strong>&#8221; and the students home address is dynamically chosen when creating a new lesson. New\u00a0location details can be as broad or specific as you like, for example, if you&#8217;re a multi-teacher studio you can create locations for individual rooms or studios like this:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Room 101<\/li>\n<li>Room 102<\/li>\n<li>Studio 1A<\/li>\n<li>etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you&#8217;re an individual teacher and teacher from your home and the student&#8217;s, you can create broad location names, such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Student&#8217;s Home<\/li>\n<li>Teacher&#8217;s Home<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you provide an address\u00a0when you setup the\u00a0Location,\u00a0the address will automatically be sent to\u00a0your synced devices. How handy\u00a0is that?<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s how to get started using the new <strong>Locations<\/strong> feature:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Login to your My Music Staff account<\/li>\n<li>Click on the &#8220;<strong>Calendar<\/strong>&#8221; tab<\/li>\n<li>Click on &#8220;<strong>Event Setup<\/strong>&#8221; (formerly &#8220;<strong>Edit Categories<\/strong>&#8220;)<\/li>\n<li>Click on the &#8220;<strong>Locations<\/strong>&#8221; tab<\/li>\n<li>Click on &#8220;<strong>Add Location<\/strong>&#8220;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mymusicstaff.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/location-setup-screenshot-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-6781\" src=\"http:\/\/www.mymusicstaff.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/location-setup-screenshot-1-300x217.png\" alt=\"location-setup-screenshot-1\" width=\"300\" height=\"217\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mymusicstaff.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/location-setup-screenshot-2.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-6783\" src=\"http:\/\/www.mymusicstaff.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/location-setup-screenshot-2-300x217.png\" alt=\"location-setup-screenshot-2\" width=\"300\" height=\"217\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mymusicstaff.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/location-setup-screenshot-3.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-6785\" src=\"http:\/\/www.mymusicstaff.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/location-setup-screenshot-3-300x217.png\" alt=\"location-setup-screenshot-3\" width=\"300\" height=\"217\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Once you&#8217;ve added some locations you&#8217;ll see a new &#8220;Location&#8221; drop-down list when you schedule a new lesson or event. If you don&#8217;t want to use locations, My Music Staff will continue to work the way you&#8217;ve always used it.<\/p>\n<h2>Improved Student Portal Calendar<\/h2>\n<p>When logged into the student portal as either a parent or student, students attending an events will now be represented by\u00a0a green student icon. If a parent has multiple children attending an event they\u00a0will see multiple icons listed under that one event. This new features removes confusion of having multiple event listing on the calendar for a family with multiple children attending the same event. Even better, if a\u00a0student cancels their lesson (or is marked absent), their icon turns red indicating their lesson has been cancelled.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mymusicstaff.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/improved-student-portal-screenshot.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-6849 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/www.mymusicstaff.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/improved-student-portal-screenshot-300x217.png\" alt=\"improved-student-portal-screenshot\" width=\"300\" height=\"217\" \/><br \/>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Default Lesson Categories<\/h2>\n<p>You now have the ability to assign a\u00a0<strong>Default Lesson Category<\/strong>\u00a0to your students. The student Default Category is used when you click\u00a0the &#8220;New Lesson&#8221; shortcut from the calendar page. \u00a0This is extremely useful if you&#8217;re a studio that uses a variety of different\u00a0Event Categories for regular lessons. For example, if you teach multiple instruments and categories lessons by student as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Drum Lesson<\/li>\n<li>Guitar Lesson<\/li>\n<li>Piano Lesson<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You can now set these up as defaults by student so the category is automatically used when you click &#8220;New Lesson&#8221;. Just another great time saving feature from My Music Staff.<\/p>\n<h2>Other Changes<\/h2>\n<p>Here is a list of some of the smaller but equally fantastic changes we have made to the site:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You now have the ability to delete Event Categories even if they presently have events listed in them. This allows you to keep your Event Category list neat and up to date.<\/li>\n<li>Students can now be marked as &#8220;<strong>Present, Late ($)<\/strong>&#8220;. \u00a0This is a great way to track late student behavior and report back to parents. Selecting this option is the same as choosing &#8220;Present&#8221;, but lets you track\u00a0if the student is habitually late.<\/li>\n<li>Student &#8220;<strong>Attendance Summary<\/strong>&#8221; report can be grouped by &#8220;<strong>Student<\/strong>&#8220;.<\/li>\n<li>We&#8217;ve optimized our\u00a0date pickers. If you live in region where your week begins on a Monday, all date pickers will now reflect this.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We hope you enjoy these improvements.
