However, it’s a great opportunity to review studio policies or best teacher practices.

Here are a few ways you can conduct exit interviews:

Create an online survey using something like Survey Monkey, and email it to your students.

Give your families a survey in person to complete at the end of their last lesson. That way, they’re more likely to actually complete the survey, and the experience is still fresh in their mind.

Lastly, why not try a good old fashioned face-to-face conversation? If you have a good relationship with a particular family, chat with them on their last day to ask about their experience. You don’t even need to go through a list of questions and write down the answers,. Sometimes just an informal conversation will give you insight as to why they’re leaving and what changes could be made.

So what questions should you be asking?

First and foremost you want to find out why they’re leaving, and what could have prevented them from leaving.

You also want to learn what they liked most about their experience, and more importantly, how they think their experience could have been improved.

Ask them if they were treated with care and attention during their time at your studio.

Ultimately, your goal with exit interviews is to find out why families are leaving and to prevent that from happening in the future.

Automating your admin work gives you more time to connect with families before and after their lessons.
