Features for Multiple Teachers

Features for Multiple Teachers

multiple-teachers

Today we’re excited to announce the beginning of our public beta test for the multi-teacher version of My Music Staff! (Don’t worry, if you’re a single teacher studio, the price for My Music Staff remains the same!)

We’ve been hard at work for the last several months to make this transition as smooth as possible. For current single teacher studios that use My Music Staff, the site has the same look and feel its always had, but if your studio grows you now have the option to add extra teachers to your account!

The biggest change you’ll notice today is that we’ve split the old “Profile Settings” page into two new pages: “Studio Settings” and “My Preferences“. Studio Settings contains all the information that’s specific to your school (such as the name of your school, invoice address, your My Music Staff subscription settings, etc.). The My Preferences page contains your user account specific information (like your name, email address and password).

If you’re managing multiple teachers and would like to participate in our beta test, please email support at support@mymusicstaff.com. [Update: The beta test has now ended, and multi-teacher features are available to everyone. To switch to the multi-teacher version of My Music Staff, change your Plan in your “Studio Settings” page on the Membership tab.]

In addition to the changes listed above, we’ve also made a number of other adjustments for single teacher studios.

  • You can now set the attendance for a day from the calendar page (select “Take Attendance” from the day’s drop-down menu)
  • You can now disable the auto-complete when adding Expenses or Other Income in My Music Staff (this is located on the “My Preferences” page)
  • The default start time on the calendar can now be changed in My Preferences. This sets the first time that is shown when you view the calendar in “Day” or “Week” mode
  • We’ve added a new “Student” filter to the calendar page so that you can view all events with no student’s attending
  • As mentioned above, the “Profile Settings” page has been split into “Studio Settings” and “My Preferences” pages

  1. I’d like to participate in your beta test. I am the main teacher but my husband teaches a few of the students.
After summer we will be adding 3 or 4 teachers at our studio.

  2. I would like to participate in your beta-test. I teach the Music Studio and my wife teaches a Sewing Studio. Our Studios and in the same location another part of the building. I would like to get our schedules on the same calendar with accounting. Her classes would be largely be Group Lessons instead of my mostly individual students. I would like to see if my ideas will work.

    • Hi Jim,

No problem. We’ve turned this feature on in your account. I am not sure if this will work in your specific case because you’re running two schools. Your My Music Staff account is designed to have one studio name (i.e. on invoices, the student portal, etc.), but it’s worth a try.

      Good luck!

  3. Hi. This is exciting. Congratulations on your new options. After the summer I intend to have more teachers coming on board. Right now it’s myself and my husband. Here is something for you to consider:

One “owner” with other staff “teachers” working for the owner – the teachers may get an hourly wage or $? Per lesson (so the owner is making a profit). You wouldn’t want students and parents ( or even other teachers) privy to all that information.

    • Hi Maureen! Thanks for the feedback. When you add additional teachers to your account there is an option to make them an Administrator. A teacher who is not an Administrator cannot see your financial’s (or other teacher schedules). They’re limited to managing only their schedule, students and attendance.

Providing login access to other teachers is completely optional. If for some reason you’d prefer your extra teachers not login at all, you don’t have to assign them a password. (You can always print paper attendance/agenda sheets for them from the Calendar page!)

    • No problem! We’ve enabled this for your account. You should see the new “Teachers & Administrators” option in the main menu. If you run into any problems or have any questions, please email us direct at support@mymusicstaff.com (or hit the “?” button at the top right hand corner of the screen).

  4. Hi

I’m so happy to hear that you have made a multi teacher version. My Partner is also a music teacher and we both teach from the same studio. I’d love to participate in your beta test.

  5. I am looking at starting to use my music staff for our multi teacher studio. I started an account and now can’t wait to see what the beta looks like. Do you have to activate it for me to participate?

    • Hi Brad, yes, we have to turn it on in your account. I’ve enabled it for you, so you should see a new “Teachers & Administrators” menu item when you log into your account.

  6. This is perfect timing. I’m trying this out for my personal studio and love it!!! My church is about to launch a worship & arts academy with several instructors and we plan to use this system!!!

  7. Is it possible to make the events different colors for different teachers for the administrator? Also, it would be helpful to display events that happen at the same time side by side. Thanks.

    • Hi Dolores! Thanks for the feedback. We have some changes planned for the calendar that will make a little easier when managing multiple teachers. They should be available in the next few weeks.
